Diplomatic relations between Georgia and the Republic of Montenegro were established on 29 October, 2007.

On June 13, 2018, the Honorary Consulate of Montenegro was opened in
Tbilisi;
On October 9, 2019, the Honorary Consulate of Georgia was opened in the city of Bar;

On 15 June 2018, the amendment to the Law on visa
procedures of Montenegro entered into force, according to which the citizens of
Georgia may enter, pass through the territory of and stay in
Montenegro without a visa up to 90 days within 180 days period with a valid
travel document
